Free Online Image to Text OCR Converter
Extract editable text from screenshots, scanned documents and photos with optical character recognition. The OCR converter is useful for digitizing printed notes, copying text from images and turning visual content into searchable text.
Results depend on image resolution, contrast, orientation, language and font clarity. Straight, high-resolution images with clear text generally produce more accurate recognition.
Instructions
How to run OCR on an image
Click the upload area and select an image file (JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP, WebP and others). After the image loads on screen, click "Run OCR". A progress bar shows recognition progress. When it finishes, the extracted text appears in the field on the right and can be copied with the "Copy" button.

What is OCR
OCR (Optical Character Recognition) is a technology that converts images of text - scanned documents, photos of signs, screenshots - into editable and searchable digital text. The engine identifies pixel patterns that correspond to characters and transcribes them into text.
This tool uses Tesseract.js, the JavaScript version of the Tesseract engine, originally developed by HP and now maintained by Google. It runs entirely in the browser, with no need to connect to external APIs or processing servers.
